From an interior designers perspective, it is absolutely vital to have a collegiate level understanding of the design and construction of residential structures. This allows designers to accurately analyze and convey the various cultural, economical, and technological factors in the making of housing to consumers.
Assisted Living & Memory Care Research Project
The purpose of this assignment was to demonstrate the design process and my ability to go from the research stage to concept development, and all the way to the refined finished product.
While creating the Smith Mountain Senior Living concept, developmental written and illustrative steps were implemented in the design. Not only were the different and unique needs researched and considered, but also the location of the various amenities in relation to each other. This project required ADA compliant materials and furniture in all facets of its design. This concept provides unique and contemporary aesthetics while meeting the specific needs of the elderly and memory impaired.
